The way you present products in your eCommerce store plays a pivotal role in attracting and engaging customers. Organizing your products into an attractive grid layout not only enhances the visual appeal of your store but also makes it more user-friendly. Customers can compare their purchasing options and add multiple products to their shopping cart without having to navigate to another page.

However, for many WooCommerce store owners, the process of setting up these grid layouts can be a bit perplexing.

In this article, we’ll guide you through the advantages of using product grids and introduce you to the top six product grid plugins available in 2023. Additionally, we’ll provide a quick tutorial to get you started using our personal favorite plugin. By the end of this read, you’ll be well-equipped to navigate the world of product grids with confidence.

Why is a well-organized product grid essential?

A well-organized product grid plays a crucial role in WooCommerce, and its significance cannot be overstated. Let’s start by understanding what a product grid is: it’s a layout where multiple products are neatly showcased side by side.

Now, why does this matter? Imagine walking into a well-arranged store where items are displayed logically. Similarly, a well-organized product grid creates a seamless user experience, making it effortless for customers to explore and compare products. This convenience translates into a potential boost in sales – when customers find it easy to navigate and compare, they’re more likely to make purchases.

The benefits go beyond usability. A polished product grid elevates your site’s appearance, enhancing your brand’s impact on customers. The impression of professionalism and attention to detail goes a long way in building trust and customer loyalty.

Beyond appearances, a well-organized product grid also contributes to better website performance and improved SEO. Search engines appreciate structured content, leading to better search rankings and visibility for your store.

While some WooCommerce themes offer basic grid layouts, you might find them limiting. Here’s where dedicated product grid plugins come in. They provide enhanced options for displaying products, including improved layouts and advanced features like filtering – features that might surpass what your theme offers. Additionally, these plugins empower you to extend product grids beyond the standard shop page, allowing you to display them on your homepage or other landing pages, thus enhancing the overall shopping experience throughout your store.

Product variations in WooCommerce offer a powerful way for store owners to present diverse styles of products in a user-friendly manner. They allow customers to choose from an array of options, such as size, color, or material, all conveniently displayed on a single product page. By using variations, businesses can efficiently manage and showcase their products, enhancing the overall shopping experience.

However, any glitches or errors with your product variation display can have a detrimental impact on your site’s usability and even lead to lost sales. To maintain a seamless shopping experience and maximize conversions, it’s crucial to promptly troubleshoot and resolve any issues with WooCommerce variations not showing.

In this article, we’ll cover some of the most common issues with WooCommerce product variations not displaying properly and how to fix them. Then, we’ll provide some top tips for enhancing your product variation display with the help of some highly recommended plugins.

Common WooCommerce product variations issues

WooCommerce product variations play a pivotal role in offering customers a diverse range of choices when shopping online. Properly displaying these variations is vital for providing a seamless customer experience and maximizing sales potential. When variations are showcased correctly, it enhances product visibility, encourages user engagement, and ultimately boosts conversion rates.

Conversely, encountering issues with product variations not displaying properly can have adverse effects on your online store. Here are the most common issues WooCommerce store owners face when it comes to displaying product variations:

  • One of the common problems is the variations tab not showing correctly in the product data section of the WooCommerce backend, which hinders the store owner’s ability to configure and manage product options efficiently.
  • On the front-end, customers may face challenges when variation featured images or data fail to display correctly, leading to confusion and potential frustration during the shopping process.
  • Some or all variation options may not appear on the front-end, limiting customers’ ability to make personalized choices.

The major reasons behind the WooCommerce variation display not showing are incorrect settings, theme or plugin conflicts, and your version of WordPress, WooCommerce, or specific plugins being out of date. In the next section, we’ll dive deeper into how you can resolve these common issues on your WooCommerce site.

Step-by-step guide to fixing WooCommerce variations

Resolving most of the issues with WooCommerce variation display is often straightforward to do, even if you’re not very tech-savvy. Let’s go over the main steps for identifying and fixing issues with product variations in WooCommerce, starting with the two most likely culprits:

Missing price for variations

One of the most common reasons for product variations not displaying is the absence of prices for those variations. If you’ve created variations but haven’t assigned prices to them, customers won’t see the options when viewing the product. To fix this:

  • Go to the product editing page in WooCommerce.
  • Navigate to the “Variations” tab.
  • Ensure that each variation has a valid and appropriate price assigned.

Variation marked as out of stock

If a variation is marked as out of stock, it won’t be displayed to customers who are browsing your store. To address this:

  • Access the product editing page for the affected product.
  • Visit the “Variations” tab.
  • Check the stock status of each variation. If a variation is out of stock, either update the stock quantity or mark it as “In Stock” if applicable.

Verify product variation settings

If your product variations have assigned prices and are in stock, then it could be you haven’t configured your variations correctly. Follow these steps to verify and configure your product variation settings:

1. Accessing the product edit page:

  • Log in to your WooCommerce admin panel.
  • Navigate to the “Products” tab and select “All Products.”
  • Locate the product for which you want to manage variations and click “Edit.”

2. Configuring attributes and terms:

  • Within the product edit page, navigate to the “Attributes” tab.
  • Ensure that you’ve selected the appropriate attributes for your product. If you need to create a new attribute, you can create a global product attribute by going to WooCommerce>Products>Attributes. Alternatively, you can create a custom product attribute directly in the product page backend, by following the steps below:
    • Click the “Add” button next to the “Custom product attribute” dropdown.
    • Provide a name for the attribute, such as “Logo.”
    • Add attribute values (e.g., “Yes” and “No”) that are relevant to your product.
    • Check the boxes to make the attribute visible on the product page and available for variations.

3. Adding variation details:

  • Scroll down to the “Variations” section on the product edit page.
  • Choose the “Create variations from all attributes” option and click “Go.”
  • WooCommerce will generate variations based on the attributes and terms you’ve set up.
  • Review each variation to ensure accurate pricing, inventory levels, and other relevant details.
Verify product variation settings

4. Saving changes:

  • Once you’ve configured your product variations, click the “Update” button to save your changes.

e. Preview and test:

  • Visit the product page on your WooCommerce storefront to see how the variations are displayed to customers.
  • Test the functionality by selecting different attribute combinations and verifying that prices and availability update accordingly.

Check theme compatibility

If there are integration issues between your current theme and WooCommerce, it could lead to problems with displaying variations. The best way to check this is to test with a default WooCommerce theme:

  • To isolate the issue and determine if it’s related to your current theme, temporarily switch to a default WooCommerce theme like “Storefront.”
  • Visit your website and navigate to a product page with variations. Check if the variations are displayed correctly with the default theme.
  • If the issue is resolved with the default theme, it suggests that there might be a compatibility issue with your original theme.
Check theme compatibility

Resolve plugin conflicts

Conflicts between plugins can lead to unexpected behavior, including the incorrect display of WooCommerce variations. To ensure variations are shown as intended, follow these steps to identify and resolve potential plugin conflicts:

1. Update plugins and WordPress core:

  • Keeping your plugins, including WooCommerce, up-to-date is crucial for a seamless online store experience. Outdated plugins can lead to compatibility issues.
  • Regularly check for updates in your WordPress admin panel under “Plugins” > “Installed Plugins.”
  • Update all plugins and the WordPress core to their latest versions.

2. Clear browser cache:

  • Browser caching can sometimes cause older code to be loaded, affecting the display of your variations.
  • Clear your browser’s cache and cookies to ensure you’re viewing the most recent version of your website.

3. Deactivate plugins methodically:

  • To identify a potential conflicting plugin, deactivate all plugins except for WooCommerce.
  • Test your product pages with variations to see if the issue is resolved. If it is, you’ve confirmed that a plugin is causing the conflict.
  • Reactivate each plugin one by one, testing your variations after each activation.
  • If the issue reappears after activating a specific plugin, you’ve likely found the culprit.

4. Update or replace conflicting plugins:

  • Once you’ve identified the conflicting plugin, check if an update is available. Sometimes, plugin authors release updates to address compatibility issues.
  • If an update doesn’t resolve the conflict, consider searching for alternative plugins that offer similar functionality but are more compatible with your WooCommerce setup.

5. Reach out for support:

  • If you’re unable to identify or resolve the plugin conflict on your own, reach out to the plugin’s support team or community forums for assistance.
  • Provide them with detailed information about the issue, including any error messages or unexpected behavior you’ve observed.

Regenerate thumbnails

In some instances, you may encounter a situation where product thumbnails within WooCommerce fail to display correctly. This can subsequently lead to the absence of featured images for product variations on your website. If you’re encountering this issue, regenerating thumbnails can often be a simple and effective solution. Follow these steps to regenerate thumbnails for your WooCommerce site:

1. Navigate to the thumbnail regeneration tool:

  • Access your WordPress admin panel.
  • Go to “WooCommerce” in the left-hand menu.
  • Choose “Status.”
  • Click on the “Tools” tab.

2. Regenerating the thumbnails

  • Within the “Tools” section, locate the “Regenerate shop thumbnails” option.
  • Click the “Regenerate” button associated with this option.
  • The regeneration process may take some time, depending on the number of products and images on your site.
  • Once the process is complete, you’ll receive a notification confirming the successful regeneration of thumbnails.
Regenerate thumbnails

3. Checking variation images:

  • Navigate to a product page that has variations and featured images.
  • Verify that the thumbnails and featured images for variations are now correctly displayed.

4. Repeat as needed:

  • If you continue to experience thumbnail-related issues, you can repeat the thumbnail regeneration process as necessary.
  • Regularly regenerating thumbnails can also be beneficial when you make significant changes to your products or website design.

Enhancing your WooCommerce product variation display with plugins

Using plugins on your WooCommerce site allows you to enhance the display and functionality of your WooCommerce variable products.

While WooCommerce’s default functionality for displaying variations is a good start, it only lets you show variations in a dropdown list. This isn’t the best for product discovery or user experience on your online store.

Next, let’s take a look at two recommended plugins that help you enhance your WooCommerce product variation display.

We’re going to see how both the WooCommerce Product Table Ultimate and WooCommerce Better Variations plugins can help improve the display of your product variations.

Displaying “popular products” in WooCommerce can be a great opportunity to upsell or cross-sell products to customers. It helps boost sales and can help you improve the customer experience and product visibility on your WooCommerce site.

While WooCommerce by default offers some functionality to display popular products using shortcodes, you can use plugins to take this to the next level.

In this article, we’ll show you three methods to display popular products on your WooCommerce store and demonstrate how you can level up your popular product display with the help of WooCommerce Product Table Ultimate and WooCommerce Order Bump.

Let’s take a closer look at some of the major advantages of displaying popular products on your WooCommerce store:

  • Boost sales and average order value (AOV). If you’re advertising a list of popular products clearly on your shop’s product pages, the main shop page, or the checkout pages, it creates more opportunities for upselling or cross-selling. As a result, it helps increase sales and encourages shoppers to spend more which ultimately boosts the average order value.
  • Improve customer experience. Displaying best-selling products to your customers as recommendations can streamline the shopping experience on your online store. It helps your customers quickly find what they’re looking for.
  • Showcase social proof. By displaying products that are popular with your existing customers, you can increase customer trust by demonstrating the high quality of the products that you stock at your online store.
  • Increase product visibility. Products that you list as “popular” don’t necessarily have to actually be selling well. You can use a “popular products” list as a way of increasing visibility for your underperforming or new product lines in order to help give them a boost.

You can use a “popular products” list as a way of increasing visibility for your underperforming products or new product lines to help give them a boost.

Here, we’ll show you the best way to identify which products to show as “popular products” on your WooCommerce store. Then we’ll look at different ways you can display them on your online store for maximum impact.

One of the easiest ways to identify which products on your WooCommerce site should be selected as the “popular products” is to analyze which products are selling the best. Fortunately, WooCommerce by default has built-in functionality that lets you do this.

To get started, navigate to WooCommerce → Reports and click on the Sales by product link under the Orders tab.

Find popular products in WooCommerce

Here you can see how well individual products on your WooCommerce site are performing. The Product search tab lets you select specific products from your online store to see how well they are selling. You can also check which products from your WooCommerce site are selling the best using the Top sellers tab.

If you offer free products on your WooCommerce site, you can view which ones are the most popular by checking the Top freebies tab. Additionally, you can also see which products are earning your store the most revenue using the Top earners page.

You can also adjust the period that you want to check the product sales data for. For example, you can only view the product’s performance for the last 7 days, the current month or the previous one, the current year, or define a custom time range yourself.

When selecting popular products from your WooCommerce site, it’s important to monitor and update your list of popular products regularly. This ensures that your product recommendations remain relevant to your audience.

It’s also important to keep up with the ongoing industry trends and seasonal demands to better identify which products are likely to become popular items on your online store. Remember that you don’t necessarily need to display your best-selling products as “popular products” on your WooCommerce site. Instead, it’s better to display underperforming products or new product lines to give their sales a boost.

One of the easiest ways to display a list of popular products on your WooCommerce site is by using shortcodes, and here are the benefits of using them:

  • Flexible placement. Shortcodes can be used anywhere on your WooCommerce site to display popular products. You can even include them in the sidebar by using WooCommerce’s built-in shortcodes widget.
  • Straightforward setup. You don’t have to install any third-party services to display popular products on the front-end. You can use built-in WooCommerce shortcodes even if you don’t have any coding knowledge for displaying popular products.
  • Fully customizable. You can use different shortcodes to display different product lists on different pages of your store, creating a more tailored experience for your customers.

To start displaying your popular products using shortcodes, you will first need to identify the shortcode you want to use. Here are two of the most commonly used shortcodes:

[products limit="3" columns="3" skus="xxx, yyy, zzz"]

This shortcode lets you adjust the number of products you want to display and how many columns you want to show them in.

Popular products shortcode

Replace “xxx, yyy, zzz” with product SKUs and add them to the shortcode to display specific products from your WooCommerce site.

Popular products shortcode preview
[products orderby="popularity" limit="5"]

You can also use this shortcode to display your store’s top five most popular products by sales.

Products orderby shortcode in WooCommerce

You can adjust the limit and add a “column” parameter similar to the other shortcode we created earlier.

Popular products shortcode preview

Now with a better understanding of the shortcode you want to use to showcase popular products, we can start adding the shortcode to any page, post, or widget.

To add a shortcode to any product page, simply use the shortcode in the product’s description at the back-end of your site.

Product short description

You can also display a custom call to action (CTA) message to capture the customer’s attention.

Short description product page

Additionally, you can add the WooCommerce popular products display shortcode to a widget. For this, navigate to Appearance → Widgets and add a new shortcode widget to any part of your WooCommerce site.

Widget shortcode

This will let you display popular products as widgets anywhere on your WooCommerce site.

Limitations of using shortcodes

While displaying popular products using shortcodes works, there are some potential limitations to using these on your online store:

  • Limited visual display options. While shortcodes work great for displaying popular products, they don’t offer a lot of customization options in terms of how they appear on the front-end.
  • Manual process. Another major disadvantage to using WooCommerce shortcodes is that you have to manually add them to each page of your site. For instance, If you want to add popular products to many different pages, you’ll need to add the shortcode manually each time. This can be time-consuming, especially if you have a large product catalog.

However, the good news is that you can overcome both of these limitations with the help of dedicated plugins that we’ll cover in the following sections.

One of the alternative ways to displaying popular products on your WooCommerce site is by using the WooCommerce Product Table Ultimate plugin, which lets you create fully customizable product tables.

  • Customizable display options. Since product tables are fully customizable, you can choose which product data you want to display and configure the exact products you want to show in the “popular products” product table.

Let’s discuss the WooCommerce Order Bump plugin’s main features that make it an ideal option for store owners looking to display popular products better:

Using the Bump Content metabox, add a Heading that shoppers will see on the front-end and specify the “popular products” in the Bump Products field.

Bump content

While you can add custom products, you can also use the upsells or cross-sells products that are attached to the products in the customers’ cart. The Layout dropdown field lets you choose the layout of the modal popup and how the bump products appear in them.

In addition to this, you can also select the Display Cart Button and Display Checkbox Button checkboxes to display the cart button and checkboxes. This lets shoppers add multiple products to their cart at once.

Discounts

The Discounts section lets you add either a fixed or percentage-based discount to your order bumps. This is great for encouraging shoppers to make purchases and helps increase the average order value on your online store.

Once you’re ready, make sure to click on the Publish button to continue.

Product layout

Displaying popular products or listing your top-selling products on your WooCommerce site is a great way to boost sales, increase average order value, enhance product visibility and user experience, and show social proof to customers to increase customer trust.

While you can use WooCommerce default shortcodes to display popular products anywhere on your WooCommerce site, you are limited with design options and it requires a lot of manual labor, especially if you have a large product catalog. This is why it’s best to use dedicated plugins like WooCommerce Product Table Ultimate and WooCommerce Order Bump to improve this functionality.

Running an online store requires strategic product presentation. The default WooCommerce layout might work well for a small inventory, but as your catalog expands, you might consider leveraging the WooCommerce product list view. This tutorial will guide you on how to optimize your WooCommerce store by displaying products in a list layout using the WooCommerce Product Table Ultimate plugin.

Understanding the importance of WooCommerce product list view

While the default WooCommerce shop page layout is visually appealing, showcasing three to four products per row with images, ratings, price, and an “add to cart” button, it’s not always the best option for every business.

WooCommerce default layout

Stores that sell items like wholesale products, electronics, or hardware goods, often need a different, less visual way to showcase their products.

The WooCommerce product list or grid view offers an effective solution, enabling you to display more products per page.

WooCommerce product table

This view can be tailored to show as many product details as you want for each item in individual columns, thereby providing a comprehensive overview for your customers. You can see a working example of a product list here.

Benefits of displaying items in a WooCommerce product list

Displaying items in a WooCommerce product list versus the default shop page layout means that you can deliver a better user experience to customers. Here are some of the main ways how a product list is better than the default layout:

  • Quick ordering and single-page order form. The main benefit of displaying items in a product list layout is that it doubles as a quick order form. In other words, customers can simply select the products they’d like to buy using a single-page order form.
  • Multiple products in one click. Displaying WooCommerce products in a list enables customers to add multiple products to their cart at once. The benefit of this is that they don’t have to click through to the single product page for each item, view product details, and add products to the cart. This is especially useful when customers already know what they’re going to buy, such as wholesale purchases or food orders.
  • Easy to read. Showcasing WooCommerce products in a list make it easier to browse items and read product details. If you sell products that have lots of specifications (such as electronics), then this can help you deliver a better shopping experience.
  • Display product details. A WooCommerce product list lets you display product details in a neat layout. You can create separate columns for each product detail you want to display, such as the product’s description, reviews, SKUs, and much more.

So, if you sell products that aren’t image-centric or if you sell dozens of products, then you might consider displaying them in a WooCommerce product list rather than the default shop page layout. It can help you enhance the customer’s shopping experience and potentially boost your store’s average order value.

Pain points addressed by list view

The list view layout tackles several issues that may arise with the default grid layout:

  • Streamlined browsing: Showcasing products in a list makes it easier for customers to browse items and read product details, especially for products with a lot of specifications, like electronics.
  • Reduced clicks: Customers don’t have to click through to the single product page for each item, view product details, and add products to the cart. This means a smoother, more seamless shopping experience.

Better for large inventories: If your store carries dozens or hundreds of products, a list layout can help manage the display more efficiently, enhancing the customer’s shopping experience and potentially boosting your store’s average order value.

Introducing WooCommerce Product Table Ultimate

The WooCommerce Product Table Ultimate plugin lets you list products on the same page. You can choose which columns to display in the front-end list layout. Customers can simply tick the checkboxes next to the items they’d like to purchase and add them to the cart in a single click. You can display the product tables anywhere on your WooCommerce store.

Key features:

  • Lets you choose which columns to display in the product table.
  • Makes it easy to create a single-page order form.
  • Supports variable products and products with add-on fields.
  • Customers can add multiple products to their cart in one click.
  • Display product tables on the front end using Gutenberg blocks or shortcodes.

It’s also worth mentioning that the WooCommerce Product Table Ultimate lets you add as many product tables to your site as you’d like. You can create separate product tables for different product categories.

How to display products in a grid using WooCommerce Product Table Ultimate

Here, we’ll explain how you can create a WooCommerce product list to display products in a grid layout on the front-end.

We’ll assume you already have a WordPress website set up with the WooCommerce plugin installed and some products added to it.

Step #1: Install and activate WooCommerce Product Table Ultimate

The first thing you need to do is get the WooCommerce Product Table Ultimate plugin and install and activate it on your WordPress website.

Licence key

Once that’s done, head over to WooCommerce > Settings > Product Table Ultimate > Licence and enter the licence key.

Click the ‘Save changes’ button to continue.

Step #2: Configure plugin settings

Now that you have the WooCommerce Product Table Ultimate plugin installed on your WordPress site, you can start configuring its settings. The plugin’s configuration options determine how the WooCommerce product list appears on your site’s front-end.

Navigate to WooCommerce > Settings > Product Table Ultimate from the admin panel to get started. There are only a few settings which makes it quick and easy to get started with the plugin.

WooCommerce Product Table Ultimate settings

Here’s a quick breakdown of the different options you can configure to create a WooCommerce product list:

Columns

The columns field lets you decide which columns you’d like to display in the front-end product table. For example, you might consider displaying the product’s thumbnail image, name, description, category, and add to cart button.

For this, you’d simply enter thumbnail, name, categories, short-description, add-to-cart in the ‘Columns’ field.

Add to cart column

The ‘Show quantities on add-to-cart column’ option lets you decide whether you’d like to display quantity selectors in the product table. If you want to give customers the option to set the quantity of the product they’d like to purchase then you should set this field to ‘Yes’. This will add a quantity field next to the add to cart button.

Products source

The ‘Products source’ field lets you specify which WooCommerce products to display in the product list. You can set it to display all products or based on a callback function, categories, or tags using the dropdown menu.

Variations display

The ‘Variations Display’ field lets you choose how to display variable products i.e. WooCommerce products with variations. You can set this field to ‘Redirect to parent page’, ‘As separate rows’, and ‘As dropdowns in parent row’ depending on your preferences.

If you only sell a handful of products, you might consider setting this to ‘As separate rows’ to increase WooCommerce product variation visibility. However, if you sell lots of products then we recommend setting this field to ‘As dropdowns in parent row’ to save space.

Order table by

The ‘Order table by’ field lets you decide the sort order of the WooCommerce product list. You can choose to order by the product ID, title, price, date, popularity, rating, and menu order.

Order

You can choose to display products in ascending order or descending order using the dropdown menu. If you want to display the latest products first, you’d set the ‘Order table by’ field to ‘Date’ and the ‘Order’ option to ‘Descending’.

Products per page

The ‘Products per page’ field lets you enable pagination and decide how many WooCommerce products to list on a single page. If you’d like to disable pagination and display all products on a single page, you can set this field to ‘0’.

Enable add selected button

Set the ‘Enable add selected button’ field to ‘Yes’ to display a checkbox at the start of each row in the product table. This way, customers will be able to browse through the WooCommerce product list, select multiple products, and add them all to their order with a single click.

Check out the plugin’s complete documentation for more information.

Step #3: Display the WooCommerce product list on the front-end

By now, we’ve set up the Product Table Ultimate plugin and configured its settings. All that’s left to do now is display the product lisings on the front end.

There are two ways to display the product table on your site’s front end: by using a shortcode or by using a Gutenberg block.

Regardless of which method you choose to go with, you’ll need to first create a page to add the product table. To do this, navigate to Pages > Add New from the WordPress admin panel and give your page a title.

Using a shortcode

If you’re using the classic text editor, you can use a shortcode to add the WooCommerce product list to your site’s front-end. One of the benefits of using a shortcode is that it keeps your content neater while you’re editing.

All you have to do is enter the following shortcode in the page content where you’d like the WooCommerce product list to appear: [product_table_ultimate].

Click the ‘Publish’ button to continue.

Using a Gutenberg block

If you’re using the Gutenberg text editor, then you can simply use a Gutenberg block to add your product table to your site’s front end. The key benefit of this approach is that it gives you a visual representation of the table in the back end while you’re designing your page. This way, you can tweak the WooCommerce product table before publishing the page.

To add your table to a Gutenberg block, click the ‘New Block’ icon and search for the ‘Product Table Ultimate’ block. This will automatically add the product table to the text editor. You will also be able to edit its parameters from the ‘Block’ menu on the right.

When you preview the page on the front end, you’ll see neat WooCommerce product listings that customers can use to place their orders. Here’s a preview of what the WooCommerce product table will look like on the front end:

WooCommerce product list

Bonus: Display categories as separate sections

We showed you how to list all of your WooCommerce products in a front-end list-style layout. If you sell different types of products, then this might not be the best way to showcase them on the front end.

You might want to display products from a specific WooCommerce category in one product table and products from a different category in a separate product table. This is possible with the WooCommerce Product Table Ultimate plugin.

You can simply split the product table into separate sections based on product categories. For example, if you’re selling grocery items, you might consider listing teas on one product table and coffees on another. This will make it easier for customers to find the exact product they’re looking for and place their orders.

Instead of displaying one product table with all of the products, we’re going to display a separate product table for each WooCommerce category. We’ll do this by entering a special parameter in the shortcode, which will let WordPress know which category to display in that table.

The first thing you need to do is find out the ID number of each of your WooCommerce categories. Open Products > Categories in a new tab to see a list of all of your WooCommerce categories.

WooCommerce category ID number

Hover over the category you’d like to display in the product table. At the bottom of the screen, you’ll see a URL for that category page which includes the ‘tag_ID=’ parameter followed by a number. That number is your category ID. In the screenshot below, the ID number of the ‘Coffees’ category is 80.

Modifying the shortcode

If you’re using a shortcode, modify it to [product_table_ultimate source="categories" categories="80"].

The source="categories" tells the product table that it should display products from specific categories. And the categories="80" parameter tells the table that it should only display products from the category with the ID number 80.

Modifying the Gutenberg block

On the other hand, if you’re using the Gutenberg block then you can modify the settings using the ‘Block’ menu on the right.

Gutenberg block settings
  1. Set the ‘Product Source’ field to ‘Categories’ using the dropdown menu.
  2. Set the ‘Categories’ field to ‘80’. You can also display multiple product categories in a product table. Simply enter a comma-separated list of category IDs in this field.

When you update the page and preview it, you’ll see that it now displays products from the specified categories only.

WooCommerce product grid use cases

As an online store owner, you want to display your products on the front end in the best way possible. The default WooCommerce shop page layout works perfectly fine for some. However, it’s not ideal for stores that sell dozens of products or products that aren’t particularly image-centric.

Here are some examples of stores that would benefit from displaying WooCommerce products in a grid:

  • Restaurants. Restaurants and eateries can add food items to a product list to create an online menu. Customers can select the different foods, beverages, and desserts they’d like to order and add them all to the cart in one click.
  • Stores that need bulk ordering features. Stores that sell products in bulk can benefit from displaying products in a grid layout. It makes it quick and easy for customers to find the products they’d like to buy and add products to their shopping cart in one go.
  • Wholesale stores. Most of the time, wholesale and B2B stores sell to customers who already know what they’re going to place an order for. In other words, wholesale buyers generally don’t need to browse your product catalog. Displaying products in a list-style layout enables them to quickly place their orders.

Dynamic pricing refers to the practice of adjusting prices for products or services based on various factors such as demand, competition, customer behavior, or other market conditions. Unlike fixed prices where pricing remains constant, dynamic pricing allows you to change prices in real-time to encourage more conversions, boost revenue, and increase profits for your business.

Through dynamic pricing promotions on your online store, you can create and apply customized pricing rules and discounts based on specific conditions or triggers. For example, you can create a promotion where a customer will receive a 5% discount if they add at least 5 units of a product to their shopping cart.

These conditions can be set to respond to various factors such as customer behavior, cart content, purchase history, or other relevant parameters. With a dynamic pricing plugin for WooCommerce, you can configure promotions that are automatically activated when customers meet the predetermined conditions.

If you’re ready to create a more engaging and personalized shopping environment for your customers while optimizing your revenue and profit, read on! In this article, we are going to look at the top 5 dynamic plugins for WooCommerce that can help you supercharge your sales.

Why is dynamic pricing important for your WooCommerce store?

Let’s go over some of the major benefits of using dynamic pricing on your online store and look at the various types of promotions you can create using WooCommerce pricing plugins.

Benefits of dynamic pricing

There are many benefits of applying dynamic pricing promotions to your online store including:

  • Increased competitiveness. Dynamic pricing allows you to respond to market changes more accurately and adjust the prices of your products accordingly. As a result, this can help your online store stay more competitive by offering lower prices when needed or capturing additional profit during high-demand periods.
  • Improved revenue and profit optimization. Since dynamic pricing promotions allow you to set prices based on demand, it can be a great way to maximize revenue and profit for your business. For instance, you can raise prices during peak seasons or lower them during slower periods to attract more customers.
  • Personalized pricing. You can also use dynamic pricing to create different prices for different user roles or customer segments. This means you can create pricing tiers or offer discounts based on customer loyalty, purchase history, locations, and other relevant factors.
  • Inventory management. Another great benefit of using dynamic pricing is that it lets you effectively manage the inventory of your online store. For example, if you have excess stock of a specific product, you can quickly lower prices so it sells out. Similarly, if you have a product that is selling well and is popular on your online store, you can increase the price to prevent stockout and capitalize on its popularity.

Types of dynamic pricing promotions

With a dynamic pricing plugin, it’s possible to create multiple types of promotions on your WooCommerce site. Here are just a few examples of the most sought-after types of dynamic pricing promotions:

  • Quantity discounts. You can offer reduced prices to customers who purchase multiple units of a product. For instance, if a customer purchases at least 20 units of a product, they will get a 5% discount on their order.
  • Time-based promotions. You can create time-limited discounts or flash sales to create a sense of urgency and drive sales within a specific period. For instance, Black Friday discounts will only last for 24 or 48 hours.
  • Tiered pricing. Tiering pricing can be used to offer multiple pricing tiers or pricing options for a product based on the quantity customers purchase. For example, the more units a customer purchases, the lower the price per unit they will get.
  • Segment-based discounts. You can also create personalized discounts for specific customer segments. For instance, you can give first-time buyers, loyal customers, or newsletter subscribers a 10% off on their first order.
  • Seasonal pricing. You can also use dynamic pricing to adjust product prices according to seasonal demands. For example, increase prices for winter clothing during the colder months and decrease prices before the summer seasons start to clear out old stock.
  • Dynamic discounts. You can automatically apply discounts based on predefined rules or conditions on your WooCommerce site. For instance, offer a 5% discount on all products if the customer’s cart value exceeds a certain amount.

The top 5 dynamic pricing plugins for WooCommerce

We’ve carefully selected a range of popular dynamic pricing plugins for WooCommerce. We’ll go through each plugin one by one and look at the features and pros and cons of each, and then explain which our top choice is.

#1. WooCommerce Fees and Discounts

Introducing the WooCommerce Fees and Discounts plugin, your ultimate solution for dynamic pricing rules on your WooCommerce site. With this powerful tool, you can create a variety of pricing incentives to boost sales and enhance the shopping experience.

WooCommerce Fees and Discounts

One of the standout features of the WooCommerce Fees and Discounts plugin is the ability to set up quantity and bulk discount promotions for your shoppers. By offering enticing discounts, you not only encourage customers to spend more but also create a more engaging online store.

Dynamic pricing rules

Imagine setting up bulk discounts that reward customers with a percentage or fixed amount off their order when they purchase a certain quantity. For instance, when a customer buys 5 units of a product, they automatically receive a 10% discount. This clever strategy entices shoppers to add at least 5 units to their cart, ultimately increasing the average order value.

Cart discount

Similarly, you can create other types of dynamic pricing promotions such as quantity discounts on your online store using the plugin.

BOGO offer

For instance, you can offer a “Buy One Get One Free” BOGO offer or “Buy Three and Get One at 50% Off” on any of your products.

BOGO cart discount

Shoppers can simply add the specified quantity to their cart, and during checkout, they enjoy the discounted price for the designated item.

Specific product discount

The WooCommerce Fees and Discounts plugin also lets you set up discounts based on specific product groups. For example, you can offer product “Y” as a gift when users purchase at least 10 units of product “X”.

Cart discount for specific products

This way when customers add the specific product and the minimum quantity eligible for discount, they will receive a 100% discount on the “Free” product.

WooCommerce pricing plugin discount

You can also set up discounts based on the total value of the cart or the amount the shopper spends on your online store.

Cart value discount

By setting up discounts based on the total value of the cart or the amount customers spend, you can motivate them to add more items or increase their order value to enjoy a discounted price per unit.

User role-based discounts and conditional pricing rules add another layer of personalization. You can offer exclusive discounts to registered members while regular customers pay the normal price. This tailored approach rewards loyal customers and fosters a sense of privilege.

User role pricing adjustments

For instance, you can offer a discount to registered members who have an account on your online store while regular customers will have to pay the normal price.

The powerful plugin also has features that let you set up discounts based on the payment gateways used.

Payment gateways discounts

By incentivizing customers to use your brand’s preferred gateways, you not only streamline the payment process but also encourage their loyalty.

The plugin’s versatility shines through the ability to apply dynamic pricing rules globally to all products, specific categories, or even individual products. This flexibility empowers you to create promotions that suit your specific business needs, offering a seamless shopping experience.

In addition to this, you can also make it easier for your customers to better understand the dynamic pricing rules being used on your online store. While you can add text to the pricing labels on the front-end of your promotions, you can also create tiered pricing tables and display them directly on the single product page.

Tiered pricing table

The WooCommerce Fees and Discounts plugin isn’t just for setting up dynamic pricing promotions but for charging fees, as well. This is a big advantage for store owners who want to add fees to ensure that they don’t lose money on certain purchases.

Percentage fees

For instance, if you offer multiple payment methods but one incurs higher transaction fees, you can add fees to the payment method to compensate for your loss.

Payment gateways fees checkout

This way, if shoppers decide to use the payment gateway with higher transaction fees, they will pay the difference themselves. Similarly, you might also want to charge extra fees for shipping heavier items like furniture or fragile items like glass jars or food products.

Handling charges

This way, if users purchase the heavier product, you can charge them a small fee that will compensate for the extra shipping costs associated with the shoppers’ order.

Bonus: Dynamically-priced products in product tables

As a bonus, you can leverage the power of product tables to showcase your dynamic pricing promotions. By using the WooCommerce Product Table Ultimate plugin in conjunction with the WooCommerce Fees and Discounts plugin, you can create highly customizable product tables that highlight items with attached discount promotions. This user-friendly layout empowers customers to browse your catalog, compare options, and conveniently add multiple products to their cart with custom quantities.

#5. WooCommerce Dynamic Pricing and Discounts by RightPress

WooCommerce Dynamic Pricing and Discounts by RightPress

WooCommerce Dynamic Pricing and Discounts by RightPress is a great dynamic pricing plugin for WooCommerce that lets you set up powerful discounts on your online store.

While the plugin lets you create most of the dynamic pricing rules already mentioned with other solutions, it also lets you create checkout fees. This way, you can charge fees that are applicable when users reach the checkout stage. For instance, if a user purchases heavy furniture items like sofas and beds, you can charge them extra to cover the additional shipping fees that will incur for your business.

What differentiates this plugin from the rest of the solutions mentioned is its deep conditional logic feature. This allows you to combine different product values and create complex dynamic pricing promotions on your WordPress site. For example, you can set up a $20 pack of three t-shirts but use conditional logic to remove t-shirt products with custom artwork from the promotional offer. Since custom artwork t-shirts will cost more, customers can only get the “discount deal” for regular or plain colored t-shirts.

Pros:

  • Conditional logic features.
  • Very intuitive to use, even for non-tech-savvy users.

Cons:

  • The extra options can be overwhelming for new WooCommerce users.

Imagine you’re shopping online and constantly clicking on “next page” to find the product you want. It can get annoying very quickly!

While there are many reasons to customize the number of products displayed per page on your WooCommerce site, the biggest one is that it improves the website user experience and journey.

In this article, we’ll explore the various methods you can use to edit the number of products per page in WooCommerce, including using plugins like WooCommerce Product Table Ultimate.

Why customizing product display matters

WooCommerce, by default, is pretty limited in terms of displaying a custom number of products per page on your online store. Most WooCommerce themes are designed to only showcase 3 columns and 4 rows per page, or 4 columns and 4 rows per page. This means you can either display a maximum of 12 or 16 products per page.

While you can change the number of columns and rows you display per page (and we’ll show you how to do this), you’ll still be limited to a grid format for displaying products on your main shop page.

Customizing the default number of products per page on your online store is useful if you have a large product catalog. This enables shoppers to easily and quickly breeze through multiple products without having to navigate to multiple pages.

You also want to have control over the total number of products that appear on the shop page as it may interfere with pop-ups or other displays. The last thing you want is to cause clutter on your online store which may cause shoppers to leave without making purchases.

In addition to this, when you want to display additional product information on your online store, you will need more space, more than what the default grid format offers. A better alternative to this would be to use product tables since you will be able to dedicate a row to each product and include essential information easily. Product tables also make it extremely easy to showcase multiple products in a neat way.

Ultimately, customizing the number of products per page on your WooCommerce site can help improve user experience and increase product discoverability, which means potentially higher sales for eCommerce businesses.

How to customize the number of products per page in WooCommerce

There are multiple ways to customize the number of products per page in WooCommerce, each with its own advantages and disadvantages.

We’ll get into the top three methods, and show you why the easiest and most effective is by using a plugin – like the WooCommerce Product Table Ultimate plugin – to create a customized table display of your products.

Method #1: Using WooCommerce default theme

If you’re using any default WooCommerce theme like Storefront or Twenty Twenty-Three, you can change the number of products directly from the WordPress admin dashboard. Simply navigate to Appearance → Customize using the admin panel and then click on the WooCommerce tab.

Default products per page

Now click on the Product Catalog tab to find the Products per row and the Rows per page fields. This lets you customize the default WooCommerce product display by letting you set a custom number of products per row or change the number of rows per page on your online store.

Custom products per page

Note that some themes like OceanWP let you edit the products per page using the theme settings.

Method #2: Using code

While you can use your WooCommerce theme settings to change the number of products displayed per page on your online store, it’s also possible to do this with code. You can change the number of products that will be shown on your main shop pages by editing the functions.php file.

All you need to do is add a simple code snippet at the end of the functions.php file. However, since this file also directly influences the functioning of your WordPress site, we do not recommend this method, especially if you’re not a developer.

Making the slightest error when editing the functions.php file can cause your site to break, and can cause other problems such as compatibility issues with other plugins. A common workaround to this is to edit in a child theme as it will be easier to revert changes if something goes wrong. However, be aware that if you update or change your theme, this can override any changes you may have made.

That’s why it’s best to use a plugin to change the number of products that appear on a single page of your WooCommerce site. It’s a much safer and user-friendly option that gives you access to additional benefits and features.

Method #3: Using a plugin

Plugins make it easier to edit the way products are displayed in the WooCommerce store because they include functionality and options for displaying products that you wouldn’t get by default in a theme. For example, one of the best ways to display multiple products in a user-friendly way is to use customized tables, and you will need a dedicated plugin if you want to do this. Here’s why we think product tables are a gamechanger for displaying products on the WooCommerce shop page:

  • Showcasing your products in a table-style format makes it easier for shoppers to navigate through multiple products at once and quickly find what they’re looking for. You can display additional information in product tables such as a short description so that customers don’t need to visit the individual product pages to learn more.
  • You can also let customers shop directly from product tables to speed up the process for them. This way, they’ll be able to multiple products to their cart in one go without having to navigate to multiple pages. For instance, wholesale buyers might want to compare two different products before they purchase one in bulk.
  • In addition to this, if you have a lot of product variations, you can easily create comparison tables that let you showcase related products in a custom product table. This will make it easier for your customers to quickly sort through all product options and order multiple product variations at once.

The best plugin to do this is WooCommerce Product Table Ultimate, which lets you override the shop page and category pages in your WooCommerce store with customized product tables. Alternatively, you can add customized product tables to any page on your website. You have full control over how many products are displayed in a table and what information is included.

The WooCommerce Product Table Ultimate plugin also integrates with the WooCommerce Product Add-Ons Ultimate plugin. This makes it easier to create a visually appealing, user-friendly, and efficient user experience on your WooCommerce site.

Create custom product tables to display a custom number of products per page

Here, we’ll show you how to create custom product tables to display a custom number of products per page on your WooCommerce site.

For this, you will need a WordPress site with the WooCommerce plugin installed as well as a few products that you want to showcase in a product table. In addition to this, you will also need the WooCommerce Product Table Ultimate plugin to create custom product tables in WooCommerce.

Step #1: Install and activate the WooCommerce Product Table Ultimate plugin

To begin, get the WooCommerce Product Table Ultimate plugin and install it on your WordPress site. To install a new plugin to your WooCommerce site, navigate to Plugins → Add New and upload the plugin’s .ZIP file to your site and click on the Install Now button to continue.

Once you install the plugin on your WooCommerce site, it’s time to activate its license key. For this, navigate to WooCommerce → Settings → Product Table Ultimate and click on the Licence link from the top.

Enter the license key given to you at the time of purchase and click on the Activate this license button to continue.

Step #2: Create a custom product tables

Now that the WooCommerce Product Table Ultimate plugin is ready to go, we can start setting up a custom product table with a user-defined number of products per page.

To get started, navigate to WooCommerce → Settings → Product Table Ultimate and click on the General link from the top.

Product Table Ultimate settings

While you can configure each product table differently, this page lets you customize the default options for displaying product tables on your WooCommerce site. The Columns field lets you add or remove columns from the product table. This way, you can configure multiple columns in your product tables. It also gives you full control over how much information you want to display on your product table.

The Show Quantities on add-to-cart column lets you showcase the quantity selector next to each product row. This makes it easier for shoppers to quickly set the product quantity without having to navigate to single product pages.

Once you’re done setting up basic options for your product table, you can choose which products will be displayed in product tables using the Product Source dropdown menu. For instance, if you only want to display the top-selling products in product tables, you can select the relevant product category using the Products Source dropdown menu. Make sure to click on the Save Changes button so new fields appear after selecting any option other than All.

General settings

You can also select how variations are displayed on your product tables using the Variations Display dropdown menu. The plugin also lets you set the default order in which products will be listed in your product tables using the Order table by and Order fields.

Setting the number of products per page

The Products per page field lets you specify a custom number of products to be listed in product tables. This way, you can showcase as many or as few products per page on your WooCommerce site as you’d like. Based on the settings configured in the screenshot above, the product table will show 10 products per page.

In addition to this, you can also set both the Enable add selected button and Enable add all fields to Yes to let your customers add multiple products to their shopping cart at once using select checkboxes.

Once you’re done, make sure to click on the Save changes button to continue.

Step #3: Showcase a custom number of products per page on default WooCommerce pages

Now that you’ve set up a product table with a custom number of products per page, you can showcase the custom product table on the default WooCommerce pages.

To do this, you will need to access the plugin settings again by navigating to WooCommerce → Settings → Product Table Ultimate.

Using the Override pages field, you can specify which default WordPress pages will show product tables. For instance, you can showcase a custom number of products per page on the default category pages of your WooCommerce site using product tables.

WooCommerce products per page preview

Bonus: Display product tables anywhere on your site

While you can use the previous step for replacing the default WooCommerce page layout with custom-looking product tables, you can also showcase them anywhere on your site using Gutenberg Blocks. Navigate to any page on your site or create a new page by navigating to Pages → Add New.

New page

Simply click on the “+” button or add a new Product Table Ultimate block. This will automatically showcase the custom product table we created earlier using the plugin’s settings on your custom WooCommerce page.

Custom products per page

Control how many products are displayed in your store!

Customizing the number of products displayed per page in WooCommerce is important for improving user experience, product visibility, and boosting sales. You can technically change the number of products per page in WooCommerce using your theme’s settings, but this will still usually limit you to using a grid format. You could also add a custom code snippet in the functions.php file, but this isn’t recommended if you aren’t very tech-savvy.

Instead, it’s much better to use a dedicated plugin like WooCommerce Product Table Ultimate to change the number of products per page on your online store. This allows you to fully customize the layout of your main shop pages using product tables or a table-style layout and let shoppers view multiple products on a single page. You can set how many products you want to display on your table and set advanced filtering to make it easier for customers to narrow down their options. You can also add add-to-cart buttons so that customers can quickly make purchases when shopping from your online store.

Want to increase your sales by recommending products in your WooCommerce store?

Product recommendations are a tried-and-tested method, with plenty of studies confirming how effective they are. A study from 2018 shows that customers who click on a recommended product are 70% more likely to convert into paying customers as compared to customers who don’t.

There are various kinds of recommended products including related products, product upsells, product cross-sells, and featured products, which we’ll look into more in-depth in this article.

For full flexibility when it comes to recommending products on your WooCommerce site, you will have to use plugins. In this article, we’ll tell you about two plugins, the WooCommerce Order Bump plugin and the WooCommerce Product Table Ultimate plugin, and show you how to use them.

There are many types of recommended products in ecommerce that are commonly used by online stores.

Related products are essentially products that your customers might consider purchasing in addition to the item they’re currently viewing or are interested in.

For example, if a customer is buying a t-shirt then you may show them a cap as the related product. Similarly, if a customer is interested in purchasing a book, you can showcase a different book from the same author as the related product.

Cross-sells

Cross-sells are similar to related products but they are most commonly used to display complementary products or to extend the functionality of the product customers are viewing.

For instance, if you sell an electrical appliance such as a laptop, you can recommend a laptop charger as the cross-sell product. Similarly, you can display a belt product as a cross-sell to customers who want to buy a pair of jeans.

Cross-sell products are always complementary to the focal item customers are interested in and, usually, are lower in value. This makes it the perfect product recommendation for encouraging customers to add more products to their cart before checkout out from your online store.

Upsells

Upsells are another type of product recommendation that displays a more expensive version of the focal product your customers are viewing. This way, you can entice the customers to purchase the higher-value upsell product instead of the original product.

For example, if a customer is interested in a laptop with a Core i3 processor then you can recommend the same model laptop but with a Core i5 processor. This is a great way to increase the average order value on your online store.

While the product recommendations outlined above are usually displayed on product pages, cart pages, and checkout pages, featured products are different as they are commonly displayed on the homepage or other landing pages. This helps grab the attention of site visitors as soon as they land on your WooCommerce site and encourages them to purchase your brand’s best products.

Featured products are essentially a list or table of products that you can choose from your store catalogue to highlight on the front page of your online store. They’re often your best-selling products, new products, or (in some cases) discounted products or products that are on sale. For instance, let’s say you launch a new line of custom bike helmets and want to showcase them in the best way possible. You can display them in a featured product table on the homepage of your WooCommerce site so it’s the first thing anyone sees when they visit your online store.

While these are all different kinds of product recommendations, they have similar benefits and you can apply similar strategies to them. Let’s go over a few of the benefits of using WooCommerce product recommendations on your online store:

  • Increase AOV. You can use product recommendations to increase your online store’s average order value. This is because you’ll be encouraging shoppers to add more products or replace the products in their cart with more expensive products.
  • Easier for shoppers to quickly checkout. Product recommendations are also great for saving your customers’ time. Since shoppers don’t have to browse through the entire catalogue to find products that they’re interested in, they can quickly check out from your online store.
  • Personalised shopping experience. Recommending products on your WooCommerce site gives off the impression that the shopping experience is curated for your customers. As a result, it can help you deliver a more personalised shopping experience on your WooCommerce site.
  • Add social proof. Using headers like “Frequently Bought Together” helps add social proof to your WooCommerce site. It tells visitors that other people bought the mentioned products from your store.
  • Encourage more purchases. You can also apply discounts on recommended products to further encourage customers to make purchases when shopping from your online store.

Why you need product recommendation plugins for your WooCommerce store

While the default WooCommerce plugin lets you create simple product recommendations on your online store, it doesn’t quite cut it. This is because you get limited features for setting them up, assuming your theme’s page templates include product recommendations in the first place.

The bottom line is that it’s very basic compared to what a plugin can do. Here’s a quick breakdown of what the default WooCommerce plugin has to offer:

Related products in default WooCommerce appear on the single product pages only and under the heading “Related Products”. While this may be enough in some instances, it’s not ideal as there’s no way to change this heading.

There’s also no functionality for choosing specific products to appear on specific product pages on your WooCommerce site. They’re automatically selected by WooCommerce based on categories and tags. This means all you can do is hope that the recommended products showcased to customers are good enough.

Upsells

By default, upsells only appear on product pages as well under the heading “You May Also Like”. There’s no way to customise this heading, which can actually be a bit confusing for customers since this messaging is better suited for a related product or a cross-sell product.

Cross-sells

WooCommerce, by default, displays the cross-sells on the cart page of your online store under the heading “You may be interested in…”.

Similar to upsells, you can specify which products will be displayed as cross-sells, however, there’s no way to change the default heading text.

Displaying featured products on your WooCommerce site without a plugin depends entirely on whether your theme supports product recommendations on the front page or not.

Your WordPress theme may have some product blocks that let you display products on pages as “Featured Products”. However, it’s unlikely you will have a lot of control over setting up products the way you want to and displaying them neatly on your ecommerce site’s homepage.

When it comes to related products, upsells, and cross-sells, you ideally want to be able to define products that are recommended in all cases. On top of this, you also want to have full control over displaying them anywhere on your WooCommerce site including product pages, the cart page, and the checkout page.

Similarly, when it comes to featured products, you want to give your customers the option to filter products and let them add products directly to their cart from the landing page.

The WooCommerce Order Bump plugin offers features that let you display modal pop-ups anywhere on your WooCommerce site.

Key features

Using the modal popup functionality of the plugin, you can showcase related products, upsells, and cross-sells in a fully customisable pop-up. You have full control over where the pop-up is displayed on your site.

For instance, you can display related products on the checkout page of your site so customers can quickly add more products to their shopping cart before checking out. The plugin lets you display the modal popup on any of your single product pages, cart page, and checkout page of your WooCommerce.

While you have full control over which products are displayed in your modal pop-ups, you also have a wide range of styling options that let you create unique-looking pop-ups according to your brand’s aesthetic.

The best part about the WooCommerce Order Bump plugin is that it’s very easy to use, even if you’re not very tech-savvy. All you need to do is specify which products will be displayed in the modal pop-up and the plugin automatically displays it to your shoppers on the front-end.

How to set up related products, upsells, and cross-sells

Let’s take a closer look at how you can use the plugin to set up order bumps for related products, upsells, and cross-sells on your online store.

Step #1: Get the WooCommerce Order Bump plugin

To get started, you will need to get the WooCommerce Order Bump plugin and install it on your WooCommerce site. After installing and activating the plugin’s license key given to you at the time of purchase, you can start setting up the modal pop-up.

Step #2: Set up related products

Navigate to WooCommerce → Order Bumps and click on the Add New button.

Related products

After giving your order bump a suitable title, you can specify which product the customers have to add to their cart for the pop-up to be displayed using the Bump Applies To meta box. For instance, if a customer adds a product from the “Clothing” category, they will be shown other clothing products in a pop-up on the cart or checkout page.

Bump Content settings

Using the Bump Content meta box, you can start customising your pop-up. The Heading text field lets you display a custom message to shoppers when the modal pop-up appears on their screen. The Bump Products field lets you specify the related products you want to showcase on the pop-up. This way, it’s easier to display only the top-selling products from a specific category when users add a similar product to their cart. Once you’re ready, click on the Publish button to continue.

Step #3: Choose where to show related products

Now navigate to WooCommerce → Settings → Order Bump to select where the modal popup will appear.

Show order bump settings

Using the Bump Location dropdown field, you can specify where the order bumps will be shown to customers. Ideally, you want to display the pop-ups with related products in the cart or checkout page since WooCommerce by default doesn’t let you do this. Once you’re ready, you can click on the Save Changes button to continue.

A cart upsell order bump

Customers who meet the order bump “criteria”, i.e. they add products from a specific category, will see the order bump during the checkout or cart page depending on your configuration settings.

Step #4: Create upsells and cross-sells

Let’s say you want to showcase cross-sells or upsells on the cart and checkout page using a modal popup. It’s very easy to do with the WooCommerce Order Bump plugin. Navigate to your product’s edit page and click on the Linked Products tab under the Product data meta box.

Linked products

Here, you can select the upsells or cross-sells for your product and click on the Update button to continue. While this will only display upsells and cross-sells on the single product page only, we’ll use the WooCommerce Order Bump plugin to extend the display to the cart and checkout page. Create a new modal pop-up by navigating to WooCommerce → Order Bumps and clicking on the Add New button.

Upsell offer settings

After selecting your product using the Bump Applies To section, select the Use Upsell Products or the Use Cross Sell Products checkbox. Click on the Publish button to continue.

Cart upsell

Now, shoppers will see upsells and cross-sells for a product on the checkout or cart page.

To display cross-sells on single product pages instead of the cart page, all you need to do is set the Bump Location dropdown menu to Product Page using the plugin’s settings.

Product page upsell settings

This will let you display cross-sell products on single product pages of your WooCommerce site, something that’s not possible with the default WooCommerce plugin. It might look something like this:

The WooCommerce Product Table Ultimate plugin offers an all-in-one solution for displaying your WooCommerce products in an easy-to-order form.

Key features

The plugin lets you showcase products in a sortable and filterable table-style layout. The product table makes it easier for your customers to add multiple products to their shopping cart without having to navigate to single product pages. As a result, it helps increase customer satisfaction and boosts sales for your business.

The great thing about WooCommerce Product Table Ultimate is that it gives you full control over which products appear on the product table. This way, you can create tables of your best-selling products, new products, or products that are on sale and showcase them anywhere on your WooCommerce site. In addition to this, the WooCommerce Product Table Ultimate plugin also lets you choose which columns appear in the product table and lets you add filtering options to make it easier for shoppers to quickly find products that they’re interested in.

While the plugin lets you override your default WooCommerce pages (such as the main shop page or category pages) with product tables, today we’re going to show you how you can use the plugin to create a simple product table with your best-selling products. We will then display the product table on the homepage so it’s easier to grab the attention of site visitors and encourage them to purchase the “best-selling” products.

How to display best-selling products

Once you install the plugin on your WooCommerce site and activate its license key, it’s time to start setting up your product table with top-selling products. To do this, navigate to your WooCommerce site’s homepage and click on the Edit page button from the top.

Homepage

This will take you to the WooCommerce page editor. Click on the “+” button and select the Product Table Ultimate block.

WooCommerce Product Table Ultimate block

This will automatically add a product table to your site’s homepage. Now using the Block settings tab, you can start configuring your product table to only showcase products from the “top-selling-products” category. To do this, select Categories using the Product Source dropdown and specify the category ID in the text field below.

Configure WooCommerce recommended products settings

You can also set up sorting and filtering options using the Layout section under the Block settings tab.

Configure sort and filter options

This helps your customers quickly find the products they’re interested in, especially if you list a lot of products in the table. Once you’re ready, click on the Update button to continue.

Show WooCommerce recommended products

Customers can now purchase top-selling products directly from the homepage of your WooCommerce site and check out quickly. This helps enhance the shopping experience on your online store and improves customer satisfaction.

Improve the way you recommend products in WooCommerce

While you can use the default functionality in WooCommerce to recommend products on your online store, it isn’t ideal for a couple of reasons. You don’t get any control over where to display upsells, cross-sells, and related products; you have no way of defining related products; and you can’t control basic things like headers and the messaging around your recommended products. Whether you can display featured products on your homepage or dedicated landing pages depends entirely on your WooCommerce theme.

The good news is that dedicated WooCommerce plugins will help solve all of these issues. With dedicated plugins like WooCommerce Product Table Ultimate and WooCommerce Order Bump, you can showcase featured products, related products, upsells, and cross-sells much more dynamically on your online store.

The post How to display variations as single products in WooCommerce appeared first on Plugin Republic.

The standard WooCommerce product page is perfect for selling simple products. However, it isn’t ideal for selling products that have lots of variations.

There are tons of stores that sell products with dozens of variations. They need a way to show single variations of WooCommerce products to increase their visibility and make it easier for customers to add them to their cart.

In this tutorial, we’ll explain how you can show variations as single products in WooCommerce. We’ll also show you how to display variations individually from different categories in separate tables.

Benefits of displaying variations individually

Out of the box, WooCommerce variations are displayed in a dropdown menu on the single product page.

WooCommerce single product page

This means that customers have to go to the single product page and click the dropdown menu to see the variations, select one, and add it to cart. And, if a customer wants to purchase multiple variations of the same product, they have to select the correct variation and add it to cart.

A better way to do this is to display WooCommerce product variations as single products:

WooCommerce show single variations

You can see a working example of this page here.

Here are some examples of products that have many variations:

  • Hardware goods such as pipes, washers, and screws are generally available in different sizes and materials
  • Skateboard decks are available in different dimensions
  • Stationery items such as paper or envelopes is available in different sizes and hues

For these types of products, showing single variations is the best way to sell them. It increases the variation’s visibility and also makes it easy for customers to purchase multiple variations of the same product.

This is particularly true for stores that sell both simple products and variable products such as grocery stores. Products with variations – such as cereals, coffees, and rice – often get buried with the rest of the products.

From the store manager’s perspective, it’s easier to manage a few products with multiple variations rather than creating multiple simple products.

In addition, showing product variations as single products is also a great way to reduce friction from the purchasing flow. As a result, customers can add as many variations to their cart as they’d like instantly.

How to show variations as single products in WooCommerce

Here, we’ll show you how you can use the WooCommerce Product Table Ultimate plugin to display variations as single products on your WooCommerce site.

For this tutorial, we’ll assume you already have a WordPress site set up with the WooCommerce plugin installed. We’ll also assume you have some variable products added to your online store.

Step #1: Install the WooCommerce Product Table Ultimate plugin

The WooCommerce Product Table Ultimate plugin enables you to show single variations in a table layout along with product details. You can choose the columns you’d like to show on the front-end.

Customers can then tick the checkboxes next to the single products they’d like to buy and add all of them to the shopping cart in one click.

Get the WooCommerce Product Table Ultimate plugin and install and activate it on your WordPress site.

Then, navigate to WooCommerce > Settings > Product Table Ultimate > License and enter the license key in the ‘License Key’ box. Click the ‘Save Changes’ button to continue.

Step #2: Configure WooCommerce show single variations settings

The next step is to configure the WooCommerce Product Table Ultimate plugin’s settings. This determines how the product table with variations is displayed on your website’s front-end.

Head over to WooCommerce > Settings > Product Table Ultimate.

WooCommerce Product Table Ultimate settings

Make the following configurations to create a front-end table layout that lists product variations:

Columns

The columns field allows you to show specific columns in the front-end product table. For instance, you can list the product’s name, price, and add to cart button.

You can do this by entering name, price, add-to-cart in the ‘Columns’ field.

Add to cart column

The ‘Show quantities on add-to-cart column’ field enables you to show quantity selectors in the product table. If you want to let customers set the quantity of the product variations they’d like to buy, you’ll need to set this option to ‘Yes’. This will add a quantity field next to the add to cart button in the table.

Products sources

You can use the ‘Products sources’ field to display specific WooCommerce products in the table. The dropdown list shows all the available options which include all, callback function, categories, and tags.

Variations display

The ‘Variations display’ field lets you show WooCommerce products with variations. The display options for variable products include ‘Redirect to parent page’, ‘As separate rows’, and ‘As dropdowns in parent row’.

Set this option to ‘As separate rows’ to show single variations.

Order table by

You can choose the sort order of the product table using the ‘Order table by’ option. The available sorting options include product ID, title, price, date, popularity, rating, and menu order.

Order

The ‘Order table by’ field lets you display the products in ascending order or descending order using the dropdown menu.

Products per page

Use the ‘Products per page’ field to enable pagination and choose how many WooCommerce product variations will be displayed on a single page. If you want to list all of the products on a single page, simply disable pagination by setting this option to ‘0’.

Enable add selected button

If you want to have a checkbox before each row in the product table, simply set the ‘Enable add selected button’ field to ‘Yes’. This will enable customers to browse through the table, select multiple products, and add them all to their cart with a single click.

Step #3: Display variations as single products on the front-end

So far, we’ve set up the Product Table Ultimate plugin and configured its settings to display WooCommerce product variations in a table.

You can show the product table on your site’s front-end using a shortcode or by using a Gutenberg block.

The first thing you need to do is create a new page to add the table to. You can do this by going to Pages > Add New from the WordPress admin panel and entering a title for your page.

Using a shortcode

This method of displaying the table on your website’s front-end involves adding the [product_table_ultimate] shortcode in the classic text editor.

When you’re done, click the ‘Publish’ button.

Using a Gutenberg block

You can also display the table of variations on your site’s front-end by adding a block to the Gutenberg editor.

Click the ‘New Block’ icon and add the ‘Product Table Ultimate’ block to the text editor. You can modify its parameters from the ‘Block’ menu on the right.

After you’re done, preview the page on the front-end. It should display a neat table with WooCommerce product variations that customers can browse through and add to cart.

Gutenberg block

How to display variations on the shop page

To display the product variations table we created on your shop page, you just have to set your table to override the existing page.

Here are the steps to do so:

  • From your WordPress Admin Dashboard, navigate to WooCommerce > Settings > Product Table.
  • Here you will find an option called ‘Override Pages’. Simply enter the pages that you’d like to be replaced with a product table. In this case, it’d be the shop page.
  • Once you’ve selected the shop page, your products will display in a  table instead of the WooCommerce layout.

How to display variations within different categories as single products

Depending on the types of products you sell, you might need to display products from some categories in one table and products from different categories in a separate table.

For this, you’ll need to split the product table into separate sections based on product categories.

For example, if you sell hardware goods, you might consider displaying nuts, washers, bolts, and screws in one product table (called Nuts and Bolts) and electrical connectors, lighting fixtures, and wire in another product table (called Electrical Supplies).

Instead of displaying all the products in one product table, you can create a separate product table for each WooCommerce category. All you have to do is enter a special parameter in the shortcode which tells WordPress which category to show in that table.

But first, you’ll need to find the ID number of the WooCommerce category you want to display. To do this, open a new tab and go to Products > Categories to view a list of all of your WooCommerce categories.

Product category ID

When you hover over a category, you’ll be able to see a URL for that category page at the bottom of the screen which includes the ‘tag_=ID’ followed by a number which is the category ID. The screenshot above shows the ID number of ‘Nuts and Bolts’ is 85.

Modifying the shortcode

If you’re using a shortcode, change it to [product_table_ultimate source="categories" categories="85"].

The source=“categories” means the product table will show products from specific categories. And the categories=”85” parameter implies that it will show products from the category with the ID 85.

Modifying the Gutenberg block

Alternatively, if you’re using the Gutenberg block, you can do this using the ‘Block’ menu on the right.

Gutenberg block settings
  • Select ‘Categories’ in the ‘Product Source’ option using the dropdown.
  • Enter ‘85’ in the ‘Categories’ option. You’ll also be able to display multiple product categories in a product table by entering a comma-separated list of category IDs in this field.

After you’re done, update the page and preview it. It should now list products from the specified categories only.

WooCommerce show single variations

Conclusion

Optimizing your WooCommerce product page for products with variations can help you:

  • Increase product variation visibility.
  • Make it easier for customers to discover and purchase product variations.
  • Enhance the customer’s shopping experience on your online store.

Using the WooCommerce Product Table Ultimate plugin, you can create a front-end table to display variations individually. As a result, you’ll be able to increase sales.

The post How to add multiple products to the cart at once in WooCommerce appeared first on Plugin Republic.

]]>

Would you like the ability in WooCommerce to add multiple products to the cart at once? In this article, I’m going to show you two methods that will allow your customers to add more than one product at the same time.

Add multiple products: two methods

The method that you choose will depend on what you want to achieve. Here’s a quick summary:

  • Add extra products to the cart from the single product page. A typical use case for this method is a ‘Complete the Look’ type of product where the user has the option to add similar items to their cart at the same time as they add the product they’re browsing.
  • Add multiple products from a product table. A typical use case for this method would be a restaurant ordering system where the user will select multiple items, e.g., starters, main courses, drinks and desserts, and add them all in one click to their order.

Top three benefits of bulk add-to-cart products

First, let’s have a look at some of the benefits of allowing your customers to add multiple products at the same time. These apply to both the methods we’re looking at in this article.

By giving your customers the opportunity to add multiple products at once, you can:

  • Increase profitability by making it easier for your customers to purchase more items. It’s far more powerful than standard WooCommerce upsells and cross-sells because the customer can add the extra products to the cart direct from the parent product page rather than having to click through to another product page.
  • Track inventory for add-on items: when a customer adds a child product to the cart as an add-on to the parent product, your stock figures will be adjusted correctly. If an item is out of stock, WooCommerce Product Add Ons Ultimate will disable it as an add-on – so you don’t have to worry about manually managing stock.
  • Calculate shipping rates correctly: because you’re using actual products, WooCommerce is able to calculate the shipping correctly by using the add-on products’ weight and size.

Method 1: Add multiple products from a single product page in WooCommerce

The Products Add-Ons Ultimate plugin lets you include other products as extra options on your product page, meaning that your customers can add multiple products to their cart in one hit. You can use simple or variable products.

The Pro version of the WooCommerce Product Add Ons Ultimate plugin has a ‘Child Products’ field. This gives you the ability to specify other products as add-ons to a product – which means that your customers can add multiple products to their cart from a single product page.

Take a look at the screenshot of an example product below. You can see that the main product is for a woman’s top. Within the product page is a section called ‘Complete the Look’ which offers customers the ability to add similar items along with the main product.

WooCommerce child products field

WooCommerce Product Add-Ons Ultimate allows you to include custom fields in your WooCommerce products, like text fields, date fields, dropdowns, checkboxes, and radio buttons. The Pro version also allows you to include ‘child’ products as add-ons within your ‘parent’ product.

How to set up the WooCommerce multiple add-to-cart plugin

Take a look at the setting below. This shows how easy it is to add additional products to a main product page.

WooCommerce bulk add to cart

You can add the Products field in exactly the same way as you would add any other field with Add-Ons Ultimate. There’s easy-to-follow documentation here. But, in brief:

  1. Edit the product where you want to allow users to add multiple products at once
  2. In the Product Add-Ons panel, add a new ‘Products’ field (as per the screenshot above)
  3. Enter the products you’d like to display on the product page in the ‘Child Products’ field

Now, when you publish the product, you’ll have multiple products on the same page.

Let’s take a look at some of the additional features the plugin provides.

Products Layout

You have five layout options: checkboxes, radio, and select:

  • Checkboxes let you add one or more child products as an addon field. The customer can select multiple child products within the field that will get added to the cart.
  • Column displays the products in a single column. This option allows you to use variable products – all the variations will be displayed in a select field
  • Radio buttons allow you to add one or more child products as an addon field, just like the checkboxes layout, though in the case of radio buttons, the customer can only select one child product from the field.
  • Select lets you add your child’s products as a dropdown field.
  • Swatches display variation images as swatches

When you use the checkboxes or radio layouts, WooCommerce Product Add Ons Ultimate will pull through the product image, name, and price. When you use Select, WooCommerce Product Add-Ons Ultimate will only display the product name and price.

With checkboxes and radio layouts, you can specify the number of columns for displaying your child’s products. With Select, you can enter some placeholder text to act as an instruction within the Select field itself.

Products Quantities

You have three options for specifying quantities:

  • Independent: when you specify a product add-on field’s quantity as independent, the customer will be able to purchase as many of the child products as they wish, regardless of how many of the parent products they’ve chosen.
  • Linked: when you specify the quantity as linked, the quantity of the child product added to the cart will always be the same as the quantity of the parent product.
  • One-only: when you specify the quantity as one-only, then only one child product can be added to the cart, regardless of how many of the parent products have been added.

Minimum and Maximum child products

Using these two options, you can specify a minimum and/or maximum number of products that can be selected. You can see this being used in this case study on creating mixed wine cases in WooCommerce.

Discount and Discount Type

You can offer discounts to your customers if they add multiple products to their cart from the page. Select the discount type (either a fixed fee or percentage).

Example use cases

You can use adding multiple products to the cart at once in a number of different ways. Here are some example use cases:

Custom computers

If you’d like to be able to allow your customers to assemble their own specs, you can create a parent product and then add your graphics cards, processors, screens, keyboards, and more, as child products.

There’s a demo of building your own computer product here. And you can find details on how to create it here.

Skateboards

Skateboards are a popular online customizable product. You can easily allow your customers to build their own board by creating a parent product with multiple child products for the deck, trucks, wheels, decals, and any other option you’d like to include.

Gift Boxes

From food hampers to beauty products, gift boxes are the archetypal customizable product. You can use standard extra fields like dropdowns to specify things like the box size and wrapping, then add child product fields for the contents of the box.

See an example of a gift box using child products here.

WooCommerce gift box

In the example above, the Gift Box is a single product that uses several child product fields. When they buy the gift box, the customer is, in fact, adding multiple products to their cart at the same time.

Each product is a standalone product in its own right, so you can track inventory and be certain that the shipping rates are calculated correctly.

You can also find out more about adding a gift-wrapping option to your products here.

Complete the Look

‘Complete the look’ or ‘shop the look’ are used to encourage your customers to make additional purchases, often by fashion and clothing retailers.

For example, in your product image for a shirt, the model may also be wearing jeans, shoes and jewelry that is available elsewhere on your site. Using the child products field, you can offer these additional items for sale direct from one product page.

See an example of shop the look using child products here.

Takeaway menus

You can easily create a takeaway menu in WooCommerce using the child products field. Create each of your meal options as products, e.g, all starters, mains, salads, sides, etc, then create a product for the takeaway menu itself.

Add each meal option as a child product so that your customer can easily choose their entire menu from one page. This is a prime example of how to add multiple products to the cart at once in WooCommerce.

Find out more about WooCommerce takeaway order forms here.

What else can you do with Product Add-Ons Ultimate?

The WooCommerce Product Add-Ons Ultimate plugin does far more than just give you the ability to add multiple products to the cart. It allows you to create fully customizable products for your customers.

Method 2: Add multiple products with a WooCommerce product table plugin

The second method of adding multiple products in one go is to create a table that lists your products on a single page. The user can quickly browse the list, select the products they want, and add them to their cart with a single click.

This method works really well for:

Take a look at the screenshot below. It shows a typical product table listing a set of products. The table has columns for things like product image, name, and description, as well as a column where the user can choose a quantity for each item.

There’s also a checkbox down the left-hand side, which allows the user to select multiple products and use the button at the bottom of the table to add all these products to the cart in one hit.

  • Display products in specific categories or tags, or even create your own query

And: as an extra bonus, the Table Ultimate plugin is compatible with the Add-Ons Ultimate plugin. This means that you can include add-on fields in products and still display them in your tables.

How to enable customers to choose product quantity and buy multiple product variations?

You might want to give customers the option to choose their own product quantities and also buy multiple product variations at the same time. This is especially useful if you have a large product catalog or sell products with multiple variations (like apparel, furniture, custom electronics, etc.)

  2. Select which products and product variations you want to display using the “Product Source” dropdown menu.
  3. Next, choose how your product variations are displayed from the Variations Display dropdown menu.
  4. Enable a quantity selector to appear on every product row using the dropdown menu titled “Show quantities on add-to-cart column”

Adding multiple products to the cart in WooCommerce – recap

In this article, we looked at two methods to allow your customers to add multiple products to the cart in WooCommerce.

The first method used was the Product Add-Ons Ultimate plugin. This allows you to add ‘child’ products on a product page. A typical use case is a ‘complete the look’ style page.

The second method used the Product Table Ultimate plugin. This allows you to list your products in a grid or table. Typical use cases include restaurant ordering and wholesale forms.

Whichever method you use, feel free to leave a comment and let everyone know what you’ve made!
