When you receive a quote, you’ll receive an email just as you would for a new order. You’ll also see a new ‘Quote request’ in your Orders screen.

Click on the Quote request to edit it.

Editing quotes

You can edit quotes in exactly the same way as you edit orders. By default, the plugin assigns the standard product price to each item – so if the product costs $25, that’s what you’ll see as its line cost.

If you want to edit the product prices, hover over the line item and click the pencil icon.

Enter the product price that you wish to quote, then click the ‘Save’ button.

When you’re ready to send the quote back to the customer, choose ‘Send updated quote to customer’ from the ‘Order actions’ dropdown and click ‘Update’.

This will automatically send an email to the customer with a list of each item and the price you’ve quoted. They’ll be able to click the link in the email to ‘Checkout now’ where they’ll be taken to a dedicated payment page.

This means that they won’t be able to change the order – they will have to pay for it exactly as you’ve quoted.

After payment, the quote will be converted to a straightforward order and you’ll be able to process it in the standard way.

WooCommerce Request a Quote is easy to set up. For the settings, go to WooCommerce > Settings > Request a Quote.

The settings

Let’s take a look at each setting.

Enable Quotes on

Define which products will have an ‘Add to Quote’ button. Choose from:

  • All Products: choose this option to enable the ‘Add to Quote’ button on every product
  • Specific Products: choose this option to enable the ‘Add to Quote’ button on only some products. You can choose which products by editing the product and checking the ‘Enable Request a Quote’ option
  • Specific Categories: you can specify all the products in certain categories
  • Specific Tags: specify all the products in certain tags

Enable Quotes for

Use this setting to decide which users will be able to request a quote. The options are:

  • All Users: every user will be able to request a quote
  • Logged-In Users: only users who are logged in will be able to request quotes
  • Logged-Out Users: only users who are not logged in can request quotes
  • Specific User Roles: only users with specific user roles will be able to request quotes

Request a Quote Page

Define which page contains the [pr_raq_form] shortcode. This page is automatically created and the shortcode inserted when you install the plugin, so you generally won’t need to do anything with this setting.

Hide prices on quotable items

Check this option if you would like to remove prices from products that users can request quotes for.

Create accounts for new users

Check this option if you’d like to automatically create an account for any new user that submits a quote request.

Downloading the plugin files

When you purchase the plugin, you’ll immediately receive an email confirming your purchase. This email also contains:

  • A link to download the plugin files
  • Your licence key

Click on the link to download a zip file that contains the plugin. You don’t need to unzip this – just make a note of where it downloads to on your computer, e.g. your ‘Downloads’ folder.

Installing the plugin

To upload and install the plugin, go to Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin. You can either drag the woocommerce-request-quote.zip file into the upload file zone (see image below) or click the ‘Choose file’ button and browse to the file on your computer.

Once you’ve uploaded the file, click ‘Install Now’ then click ‘Activate’ (remember that you will need to have WooCommerce activated as well).

Enter your plugin licence

Go to WooCommerce > Settings > Request a Quote then click the ‘Licence’ subheading.

  • Enter your licence key in the Licence Key field
